Arrowmax Asia Race Cup 2017 Singapore Round 2 - Race report

Round 2 of the 2017 Arrowmax Asia Race Cup Singapore took place on 15/10/2017 at RCMC PA racetrack, with three classes including Dash Formula 1, Dash 13.5T Stock and Arrowmax Modified class being run.

In the Dash Formula 1 class which utilise Dash 21.5T control motor, Round 1 winner Patrick Ong managed to take Q2 and Q3 to take the overall TQ honours followed by Joe Hwee and Andy Tan. In the finals of the Formula 1 class, It was a battle between Patrick and Joe for the win with some exciting racing in the finals, with Patrick taking A1 and Joe taking A2. This setup a show down in A3 when after some exciting head to head racing, Patrick took A3 along with the overall win. Being the winner in round 1, Patrick also secures the ticket to Japan to compete in the Arrowmax grand final held in Yatabe arena.

In the Dash 13.5T class, it was a battle between Daryl Thong and Wei Jian for TQ honours, with Wei Jian managing to take Q1 after Daryl made a mistake however Daryl bounced back to take the next three qualifying rounds to line up first on the grid. In the final, Pole setter Daryl managed to run away to take a comfortable win ahead of Wei Jian in Q1. In A2 however, Wei Jian had a better start and after coming side by side on the sweeper which resulted in Daryl ending up in the grass, Daryl decided to retire with Wei Jian taking the win in A2 and forcing it to A3 for the deciding final. In A3, Daryl held the lead comfortably for the opening laps until he made a mistake which landed him on his roof and dropped him down to 4th. Daryl then recovered when 2nd and 3rd place crashed and next Daryl set his eyes on Wei Jian for the win. Daryl had a perfect line coming on the straight setting him up for the move at the end of the straight where he took the inside line along with the lead. He then managed to hold on to take the overall win of the day.

In the Arrowmax Modified class, it was a battle between Nicholas Lee and Dominic Quek for the TQ with both drivers taking two rounds each, with Nicholas coming out on top on tie break. With the final a battle between Nicholas and Dominic all day, Nicholas will go on and taking the win in A1. It was not so straight forward in the next two finals however, with Dominic making impressive moves in both finals to take the overall win in the Arrowmax Modified class.
