Race report by Daniel Kobbevik

I was very exited about this WC, and my goals were at least B-main in both classes. We struggled a little bit in start when our batteries was not aproved, and we needed to buy batteries at racetrack. But they worked well, so that was good. First up was 2wd, and we had tested very little. But rest off the team had worked very hard before race at Hudy arena, just that the track conditions was very different from what we meet down here. My XB2 2018 with the start setup from a mix between Tessmann and Bayer was working good, we just went down to 78 spur, to get a little more traction in the rear.

Qualification started and first run was really good, I could have been top 5 in round, but made small mistake on jump combo before finish line and came 9 in round. A good start, and I really felt I could go superfast with my XB2, it was amazing to drive, so I felt very confident about next rounds. Second round came up, I was fighting with Lee, and Evans about finish top 3 in round, and on last lap we passed a car that was one lap behind us, both Lee and Evans came by, I was hit from behind and my rear axel popped out, and I came 12 in round, I was very frustrated at same time as I felt I could be and fight in the top.

Third round again on last lap and I was like top 5 in round finish, Evans make mistake on last jump combo, marshall running out and stepping on my car to save Evans.... not on purpose off course, but it seemed like it was not meaning for me to make A-main, I was 14 in round. 2 more qualifiers, rain came, and my car was not at all dialed, we was really cought on bed, we acted to late and did not manage to get car work on the conditions that came up. So I ended 18 after Q5 was finished. In B main my car was ready after we had done some changes and worked very good, I ended 16, with dragracing Rivkin for the 16 spot. Not the result I had hoped for, but I won the WC title Under 16.

Then it was time for 4wd and my hopes were big, but in reseeding round I lost my rear tire after 3 laps, and I did reseed in to 3 best heat, I knew then that it was going to be hard to reach A-main on this track. So I needed the last reseeding round to be good. Unfortently that round was late at night and track was slower, and it was cars in the cornes upside down, and I did not improve my reseeding time. So I had to go in 3 best heat. The track was not blowed or cleaned so it was not possible to get the same speed as the 2 heats after me, we just swiped the track for the heats after us, and I could not make mistake to have a chance.

First round I was 12, second I was 13, third round I was 9, 4 round I was on a very good pace, but axel popped out on a landing, so we needed to reduce droop in rear. Then I needed a 6 in Fifht round, but that round was never done, rain came and I was B-main again.... Ended 14 after four qualifications done. And after B-main done I ended 15 in total, again I was the winner of WC under 16. The good thing is to feel and see that I have the speed to compete against the fastest drivers, many drivers struggled at this WC. Now its 2 years until next 1/10 WC, and both me and Team XRAY will work hard to better the result! I am thankful for all the hard work Juraj, Martin, Ty, Gordon and all the rest off team put down to make the best for us! We will all be back stronger.
