Race Report from Tyler Keel:

This weekend was the First Annual Shiftys RC Shakedown. The new facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma was filled with just some of the fastest racers from Oklahoma and Kansas pushing nearly 100 entries throughout the classes.  The track built by Corey Robison and the staff at Shiftys was fun and extremely technical.  The high grip clay provided excellent traction all weekend.

After 4 rounds of back and forth qualifying in rocket round format, Team Associated driver Trevor Nault was able to take the overall TQ of Mod 2wd and TLR driver Todd Sieler took the TQ in Mod 4wd.  With everyone being so close during all rounds of qualifying, the mains were sure to be good and they did not disappoint.

In Mod 2wd, A1 was won by Team Associated driver Tyler Keel after back and forth battles with AE’s Trevor Nault and Michael Twilling.  In A2, Michael Twilling was able to take the win running away from the battle behind him with Keel taking 2nd and Nault 3rd.  In the deciding A3, the top spot was traded back and forth from the 3 Team Associated drivers again.  On the last lap, Keel got caught up with a wrecked car in the rhythm section while leading letting Nault pass for the close victory over Keel.  After all points were totaled it was Tyler Keel taking the overall win with Michael Twilling 2nd and Trevor Nault 3rd completing the Team Associated sweep of the podium.

In Mod 4wd it was much of the same back and forth battles.  With the track starting to show some character the 4wd cars became extremely difficult to drive on the high bite surface.  In A1, Michael Twilling took the victory running away from the rest of the pack who battled it out for the entire 5 minute main.  In A2, Todd Sieler took the victory. Much like Mod 2wd it would all come down to A3. Michael Twilling was able to battle his way back after an early mistake and snag the overall victory by taking the win in deciding A3.  The podium was rounded out by Jesse DeArmon in 2nd and Trevor Nault in 3rd.

  1. Michael Twilling (AE)
  2. Jesse DeArmon
