Double win for Rivkin at Top Gun Shootout

Rivkin Leads the Charge for 5 Wins at the Team Associated Top Gun Shootout

Now in its seventh year, the Team Associated Top Gun Shootout continues to grow as one of the signature events in Southern California. Hosted by SDRC Raceway in beautiful San Diego, CA, and within earshot of Miramar Air Force Base, racers traveled from numerous states across the country to compete in the event.

With a class for each skill level from novice to pro, the fresh layout offered a challenging and flowing layout for everyone. In qualifying for the premiere classes of 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy, it was the duo of Ryan Cavalieri and Reedy's Spencer Rivkin taking the pole positions, respectfully. It was a successful set of A Mains for Team Associated as we had 19 out of 20 positions in these two mains, including the four drivers who bumped from the B Main.

With triple A Mains for the modified classes, Rivkin and Cavalieri split the wins in A1 and A2 of both classes, setting the stage for a winner-take-all A3 in both classes. With a hard-fought battle, Rivkin was able to hold off the hard-charging Cavalieri in both A3s to take the overall title in both 2WD and 4WD Modified. Also taking wins for Team Associated were Ron Devoll (17.5 2WD Stock Buggy), Blake Bond (17.5 2WD Buggy), and Rudy Rico (13.5 4WD Buggy).
