The second day of practice at the Snowbird Nationals is going on today (you can watch the road course program here: snowbirdsroad.liverc.com/live/ and the oval portion here: snowbirdsoval.liverc.com/live/) and one of the event’s familiar faces is driving new equipment this week.

EA Motorsports founder Eric Anderson announced on his Facebook page around 10:20 PM CT last night that he decided to leave XRAY after 11 years as a team driver, during which he scored ROAR national championships, AOC and IIC wins, as well as victories at the Snowbirds. He is competing this week with a Roche 1/12-scale chassis and Awesomatix touring car. Here’s what Anderson said:

“Just want to put the rumors to rest and clear some things up.

After 11 great years with one of the best companies in RC I’ve decided that I won’t be racing for Xray/RCAmerica. It was a personal decision based on a lot of stuff going on in life right now with the businesses (APEX Raceway and Hobbies and TeamEAM) that lead to this decision. It may have been the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my RC career. I want to thank the Hudy family, RCAmerica and especially drew Ellis for helping me for so long with the best support and products in the industry.

Hopefully this decision doesn’t affect all the friendships I’ve made throughout the years as that’s what’s most important to me in RC.”
