Team Associated Race Report:

The second annual Team Powers Cup was held at the world-famous Norcal Hobbies facility on August 4, 2013. The track, which is home to the Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions, hosted triple-digit entries for the second year in a row. In addition to the traditional 17.5, 13.5, and Modified Touring Car classes, fun classes such as VTA, F1, and Mini Sedan added to the upbeat atmosphere of the event. Competition was tight in all classes, with some of the best drivers on the West Coast attending, including past and present ROAR and Reedy Race champions.

After making a few setup changes in practice, Gonzalo Cortes' Reedy-powered TC6.1 was on point and set the fastest time in the first Modified TC qualifying round. In the second round of qualifying, minor adjustments improved Gonzalo's pace but a small mistake prevented him from improving his first-round TQ time. However, nobody else was able to beat it, which gave him the pole position for the single A Main. As the defending Team Powers Cup Champion, the pressure was on Gonzalo to repeat, and he was able to put down fast lap times early on, which gave him a comfortable lead that he never relinquished.

Thanks to Norcal Hobbies for hosting another great event and to Team Powers for their race sponsorship.
