Main Photo: Traxxas joins the fight against children's illnesses Traxxas is a name known throughout not only the r/c industry, but the racing industry in general. Traxxas is now teaming up with St. Jude Children’s Hospital to help raise awareness and encourage fans support by racing the Traxxas/St. Jude Hospital Mustang FR500S in the SCCA World Challenge GTS class.

“Traxxas will bring their full road show to four stops on the World Challenge circuit to rally support for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Traxxas' popular "Try-Me Track" will entertain attendees as it also generates donations to benefit the hospital.  Traxxas president Mike Jenkins is very enthusiastic about the potential for the program.  "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has a proven track record for success in dramatically improving the survival rate in children that have been hit with pediatric diseases. We have chosen to put our support there along with our partners Amsoil, SPX and Ford. We believe that people want to contribute to meaningful charities so we created this opportunity through racing to bring awareness and provide a fun way to pledge donations to St Jude Children's Hospital."

Since the hospital was founded in 1962 by Danny Thomas, St. Jude's has made amazing advances in the treatment of pediatric diseases. In 1962, the survival rate for childhood leukemia was less than 5%; today, advances made by St. Jude Children's Hospital have ensured a survival rate of 94%. Other strides include Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (7% survival in 1962; 85% today) and brain tumors (10% in 1962; 85% today). At St. Jude's, no child is turned because of a family's inability to pay, so the support that comes from donations is essential.”

About the St. Jude's/Traxxas/Amsoil/SPX Ford Mustang
The St. Jude's/Traxxas/Amsoil/SPX Ford Mustang was constructed and is supported by the "Fast Ford" experts at Capaldi Racing of Chesterfield, Michigan. Starting with a new Mustang FR500S, the Capaldi team replaced steel panels with a carbon fiber louvered hood, trunk, and rear spoiler for less weight and better aerodynamics. The vehicle also includes Brembo Racing Pro Series four-piston brake calipers and 14" slotted discs. To drive the car, Traxxas has selected Eric Foss, the 2009 SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge Rookie of the Year. Eric earned the title with two poles, one fastest race lap and six top-six finishes. "I'm looking forward to the competing in the World Challenge GTS class against some of the SCCA's best road racers, and bringing the message about St. Jude Children's Hospital to the fans. We hope our efforts will also encourage other teams to use racing to raise awareness for charitable organizations," said Foss.
