In only its second year, 5280 Raceway's Mile High Indoor Championships has become one of the premier indoor carpet races in the country. World-class drivers Paul Lemieux, Rick Hohwart, Keven Hébert, Josh Cyrul, and Ralph Burch, along with some of the best drivers from around the U.S., converged upon Denver, Colorado to compete in TC, 1/12, World GT, and VTA classes.

Keven Hébert and his Reedy-powered 12R5.2 was the class of the field in the 1/12 Modified class. Keven posted a blistering-fast run in qualifying round 1 that stood up for the reminder of qualifying. After suffering problems early in qualifying, teammate Hohwart stormed back to claim the second grid position for the finals.

Continuing his dominance, Keven led wire-to-wire in A1 and A2 to take the victory. Mike Haynes, driving another Reedy-powered 12R5.2, finished on the third step of the podium while Hohwart ended up fourth.

Haynes, also competing in the 1/12 13.5 class, took the win after winning A1 and A2 after qualifying on the second row in fourth position. A Reedy Sonic Mach 2 13.5 motor and Reedy 6800mAh LiPo battery provided the power advantage in the highly competitive spec class. The identically equipped 12R5.2 of New Mexico's Sean Guthrie claimed the runner-up position.

A Reedy Sonic Mach 2 motor powered Drew Ellis to the pole position in the 13.5 TC class. Ellis started off with a strong showing in A1 to take the win, but second place in A2 meant that the results of A3 would determine the outcome. A win by nearly half a lap in A3 gave Drew the overall victory and the coveted real estate on the top step of the podium.

Joe Trandell and his 12R5.2 came from second on the grid to win A2 and A3 and claim the title in the 1/12 17.5 class.

Special thanks go out to the 5280 Raceway crew for creating a great facility and for organizing what has become one of the premier races on the calendar.
