Qualifying
I was hoping for a good result at the Herts track this past weekend, I have had some good results running up to this event and was hoping to carry this on.
In round one I put in a good steady run and stayed on my wheels, the run felt fast and I finished 4th in round.
I made a small change to the front camber link for round two – going longer on the link to try and gain a little more on-power steering. I didn’t make any other changes as the car was already good. I got 3rd in round this time but the racing was very close with the top 5 drivers all split by just 2 seconds.
I tried new Team Durango silver-black springs on the front for round three and again, this helped the car across the bumps. Sadly a big error half-way into the run lost me a lot of time and I decided to pull the car off and prepare for the A final. My previous qualifiers had left me 3rd overall on the grid, and with a lot of big names at this event I was very happy with this.
Final
I had a good start and held my position but with a small mistake I dropped down to forth. I was feeling confident that I’d be able to make the ground back. After around 4 minutes I was back up to 3rd and fighting for second with Elliott Boots – and we were both catching the leader Neil Cragg .
At the 7-minute mark I was called in for fuel and moved into second place & was now chasing down Neil Cragg. By the 10 minute mark I had taken the lead and thought I had a good gap back to second but the longer fuel-stop of Dave Crompton looked to have given him the edge because after the second stop he had taken the lead and I was back to second. I fought back and regained the lead which I extended to the finish line to bring the DNX408 home in 1st which was a great end to my season.
