In the ongoing battle of the brands, Caster Racing has introduced its latest vehicle to the lineup, the S10B 1/10 scale electric 4wd buggy. This pro version kit features several eye-catching features. First and foremost the lightened T6 aluminum chassis designed for extra strength. Although aware the aluminum chassis is slightly heavier than that of the competition’s carbon or plastic chassis, the added strength of the aluminum chassis is designed to withstand the race ending breaks that other cars experience. The saddle pack battery trays have become the most popular choice of design for weight transfer in the 4wd market, and Caster recognizes that by milling out the chassis for rear mounted saddle packs. The next feature that caught our eye was the aluminum center diff. CNC machined, the 5 piece center diff, looks to offer extreme durability and performance.
Front and rear, the S10B buggy’s handling is in the hands of aluminum threaded shock bodies, with aluminum shock caps, and 3.5mm shock shafts. While these mighty shocks not only look extremely cool, they are designed with race winning handling as well. Similar to the Durango DEX410R, the Caster S10B features aluminum front and rear shock towers. For added durability where others may seem weak, Caster has designed aluminum steering blocks, hubs, wheel hexes, toe plates, and servo saver! Even the front and rear top deck are machined aluminum, for added strength, but strategically milled and cut for weight reduction.
Now the big question is, while this car may be extra durable with its super trick machine aluminum parts, how MUCH does the car actually weigh? The Associated B44.1 has a weight of 1715 grams, the Kyosho Lazer FS2 weighs in at 1650 grams, and the Caster S10B has a stunning claimed weight of 1250 grams out of the box!
Caster Racing has definitely put some serious thought and development into the new S10B 4wd, and have released the new buggy in the U.S. for a hobby shop price of just under $350. Could the Caster Racing S10B 4wd be the next race winning machine? Share your thoughts and comments on the new buggy below!
