We were in contact with our friends at HPI Racing, and were informed of some very interesting new products. While no details were able to be shared at this time, HPI Racing confirms that in the works is what they call the "New HPI Revolution" in r/c. The idea behind this revolution is the development of gasoline powered 1/8 vehicles.

Let's face it, although we consider gas prices to be very high, $3.50 per gallon of gasoline to run your r/c car is considerably cheaper than the expense of nitro fuel. However, the performance of nitro fuel is unmatched at this time by any other form of fuel in the r/c industry.

While HPI has shared this "sneak peek" teaser, which appears to be their popular Savage truck, will they go on to revolutionize the racing industry with gasoline powered race vehicles as well?

Part of what turns away so many newcomers to the hobby is the price of getting started, and keeping things running. To offer popular vehicles such as the Savage, with it's monster truck styling and incredible durability, equipped with a gasoline powered engine that performs the same top speeds, big air, and monster wheelies for only almost 1000% cheaper in fuel might just be the next step to growing the hobby even more.

We will bring you more info as it becomes available on the New HPI Revolution projects, but in the meantime, share your thoughts and comments about gas powered engines below! Do you think we will someday be racing gasoline powered 1/8 buggies and trucks?
