This past weekend the JConcepts Spring Nationals made their way to the Hobbyplex in Omaha, NE. Rain showers plagued the weekend, however, track crew were able to get racing under way after each night of downpours. Despite the rough weather, racing was as a close as ever!
The TLR team would come out on top by sweeping Expert Buggy, Expert Truggy, and Electric 1/8 Buggy! Kendall Welch put together a strong run in both classes dominating with TQ in both classes and taking the overall wins over Jason Ruona and Taylor James. TLR's Alex Sturgeon would go 1-1 in the first two electric a-mains, securing yet another class win for Losi.
Welch coming on strong for 2011, has been a dominating force in the midwest. It is our guess that you will see the distinctive red, yellow, and white Losi's up front in the near future, and possibly this week's ROAR Nationals! We first saw Sturgeon burst on the scene out west earlier this year in electric 1/8. Will he be able to use a hometown advantage to put his Losi 8ight-E out front at the upcoming ROAR Electric 1/8 Nationals later this fall?
Hobbyplex has hosted several major events including the ROAR 1/10 Nationals, and upcoming ROAR Electric 1/8 Nationals. One major change however, the Hobbyplex has now begun construction on enclosing their outdoor offroad track to build one of largest permanent indoor 1/10 and 1/8, nitro and electric, offroad facilities in the country! Located in Omaha, Nebraska, the "Plex" will provide racing of sorts for racers across the midwest even throughout the winter months. We will keep you up to date on the Hobbyplex construction as time winds down to their host of the 2011 ROAR Electric 1/8 Nationals in their freshly built indoor facility this fall!
