In 2010 the world watched as Cody King, Atsushi Hara, and Jared Tebo battled it out finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the IFMAR 1/8 Offroad World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand. Less than 4 months away is the highly anticipated 2011 IFMAR Electric Buggy World Championships which will be held in Vassa, Finland on July 17-24. The beautiful Pitkämäki Race-Center is a high-speed and hard packed clay track which features covered pit, wifi, onsite cafe and restaurant, and more!
The 2009 Electric Buggy World Championship was held in Pretoria, South Africa, and saw little to no American drivers on the scene. Martin Achter, Craig Laughton, and Alber Claassons finished top 3 in South Africa, and will look to defend their positions at the upcoming 2011 World Championship. The last time we saw a strong team USA was at the 2007 Electric World Championships in which Jared Tebo brought home the 4wd class win, and a close 2nd to Hayato Matsuzaki in the 2wd class.
An early entry list has been posted for this years Electric World Championships, and with 90 entries already accounted for, there is no sign of ANY Americans entered as of yet! Will Team USA return to the Electric Buggy World Championships to try and re-claim their previous World Championship wins, or will we yet again see an IFMAR World Championship with no signs of USA?
