As we all know, one of the largest hobby shows in the United States which features all of the latest products and never before seen items is the annual iHobby Expo held in Chicago, Illinois. With almost all of the major manufacturer's and industry leaders in attendance we too were planning to be in attendance for all of the latest news, products, and gossip.
Chicago is about a 10 hour drive from my home outside of Kansas City, Missouri. All-packed and ready for a week of fun, we loaded up the car and began our journey early Wednesday morning. Carefully planning out the schedule, the initial trip would have us leaving at 8am, arriving in Chicago at 6pm, check in to the hotel at 6:30pm, and head to the iHobby Expo at 6:45pm for a sneak peek of the set ups.
Settled in the car with a fresh supply of gas station snacks, headphones, and full-charged iPod. As I was riding shotgun, I decided to doze off for a few extra minutes of sleep as the long trip got underway. As I was asleep, I suddenly heard a BOOM! Quickly followed by a "Son of B$@^!( You $(&@^^! $^@% (#^($" coming from Homer driving. Last time we headed out on a road trip his rant was caused by taking out a McDonalds clearance sign with our trailer, and the time before that it was as the truck ran out of gas somewhere in Kansas.
While Missouri is full of beautiful grasslands, rolling hills, and wildlife, it is also full of a moving car's worst enemy...known as the deer species. We have encountered the deer species before on our road trips, but nothing quite like this deer. This Billy Big Buck was clearly an experienced car fighter. Billy Big Buck used his highly trained skills to run out in the highway, double-twist rear hoof kick through our grill, play dead, and just when he was sure our trip was over... stood up, mumbled something in deer, and walked off like nothing happened. It was almost as if Chuck Norris had transformed into a Missouri highway deer for the day.
Needless to say, while the damage looked minimal, our ride was unable to continue as it poured out steam and antifreeze. We returned home to send the car to the shop, and recap our experience at the 2011 iHobby show....courtesy of Billy Big Buck.
While we were unsuccessful in our journey, we will bring you the latest products and news from the iHobby show as our good friends that were fortunate enough to avoid Billy Big Buck are in attendance! Stay tuned for all of the latest new products!
