Avalon Racing, a newly established German RC specialist headquartered in Düren, West Germany, has unveiled the Avalon Vortex — an all-new, high-performance polycarbonate bodyshell designed from the ground up for 1/10 scale touring car racing. Developed entirely in Germany using state-of-the-art 3D CAD technology and validated through extensive on-track testing by variuos drivers, the Vortex is set to become a serious contender for competitive drivers seeking measurable aerodynamic gains.
A Complete Rethink of Downforce and Rotation
At the heart of the Vortex concept is a fundamental re-engineering of how downforce, rotation, and chassis responsiveness interact at the limit. The body's signature ducktail rear design simultaneously reduces rotational inertia and generates strong, predictable downforce through corners — a combination that translates directly into higher corner speeds and more consistent lap times.A curved rear wing profile ensures optimal airflow and rear grip, while a wide rear wing adjustment range gives drivers the flexibility to fine-tune the setup for different track surfaces, grip levels, and driving styles. Additional geometric stiffness built into the body structure ensures that aerodynamic loads are transferred efficiently to the chassis.
Key Technical Highlights
The Avalon Vortex has been engineered with a clear focus on competitive performance:
Built by Racers — A System-Driven ApproachAvalon Racing was founded on the principle that performance should be measurable, not assumed. The company approaches body design as an integrated system — aerodynamics, balance, durability, and adjustability must all work in concert under race conditions. The result is equipment that behaves predictably at the limit and delivers consistent performance across a full race distance."Performance should be measurable, not assumed," states one of the founders Julius Schaefer - a former national junior champion of Germany. Every design decision behind the Vortex has been validated on track, not derived from guesswork.
