Yesterday was main day at the JConcepts Spring Nationals held at OCR/C in Orange County, California. As we covered a recap of qualifying, it was a surprise overall finish in several classes.

2wd Mod Buggy

While Mike Truhe and his TLR22 looked strong and dominant in Saturday's qualifying with a convincing TQ in 2wd Mod Buggy, it was the the #2 car of Josh Numan who would turn up the heat on main day. In A-1 Numan and Truhe would battle it out from start to finish. Team AE's Brian Kinwald charging hard in third, was a good distance back from the leaders. When the race ending tone sounded, Josh Numan would cross the line .9 of a second ahead of Mike Truhe for the win, with Kinwald finishing out the top 3. In A-2, Numan would once again jump out front and staying consistant and smooth take the win over Mike Truhe for the overall 2wd Mod Buggy win! Kinwald would finish 4th behind Kyosho's Greg Hodapp who ran an impressive 3rd place. The start of A-3 would be one driver short, as Josh Numan watched from the sidelines as he already had wrapped up the overall victory for the class. The final A-main of the day would see car #4, TLR's Frank Root, step up for the win with Truhe, Hodapp, and Kinwald following behind.

4wd Mod Buggy

4wd Mod Buggy would be setup as only 1 A-Main, that was an extended 10 minute race. Class TQ, Steven Hartson, would face trouble early on and begin to drop through the field. Fresh off his overall 2wd Mod Buggy win, Josh Numan, would once again find himself out front! JConcepts very own, Jason Ruona, would finish 14 seconds back from Numan. The battle at the finish HOWEVER was between Ruona and Team Associated's Team Manager Brent Thielke. Thielke, car #3 would make a last ditch effort to take second finishing only .4 of a secong behind Ruona for third.

Pro-2

Pro-2 TQ, Frank Root, was looking strong for the A-main win, however, teammate Mike Truhe had other plans. Truhe would work his way out front finishing 1 second ahead of Root at the end of the 33 lap main. Team Associated's Brian Kinwald started in the third place position, but would fall back to fourth as TLR's Cody Turner would sneak in to make a TLR Top 3 finish!

Pro-4

With several drivers debuting their new Associated SC10 4x4, it was anybody's guess as to who would win the ever-growing Pro-4 class. Once the tone sounded, it was Ruona (Pro-4 TQ), who would jump out into the lead. Team AE's Chris Jarosz was a close second throughout the race, and would miss the "free lap" by only 2 seconds when the tone sounded. Ruona took the win, Jarosz second, and Colby Poh putting in a strong 3rd place finish.
