O.S. Brushless Motors

The rumors are true: the most respected name in R/C engines has just introduced four high-performance brushless motors for flight. First reports indicate that all feature angled ventilation holes, part of a new high-efficiency cooling system developed by O.S., as well as thicker cans designed to prevent distortion. The 38 mm models are equivalents for small-scale (.25-size) glow engines. The motors with 50 mm cans correspond to mid-size (.40-.50) 2-stroke engines. All feature distinctive O.S. blue cans, backplate mount, gold-plated connectors, a stainless steel prop shaft and lock nut.

Pilots loyal to outstanding O.S. performance but eager to fly electric will soon have the ideal option — powering electric airplanes using new O.S. brushless motors!

Designed by O.S. engineers to be the new "gold standard" in electric power, these motors offer the same legendary quality and reliability that have made O.S. glow engines famous worldwide for 75 years. Initially, the motors are being produced in four sizes, equivalent to .25, .30, .40 and .50 size glow engines. Watch for them to become available in July 2011.

Could this mean O.S. engineers plan to offer on and offroad brushless motors in the future as well? Time will tell!

Only O.S. brushless motors will offer a ventilation system that increases efficiency and allows the motors to generate additional power. Key to this system is a unique centrifugal fan design. The fan draws air through specially angled ventilation holes, across the windings and over the magnets for greatly improved cooling.
