Violent storms and multiple tornado's touched down and devastated the midwest over the weekend. Ranging from Minnesota to Oklahoma, and multiple locations in between. Several of our very own LiveRC staff narrowly avoided being caught in the catastrophic events.
"I decided to spend my Sunday with friends and family at a motocross race in Carthage, Missouri. After a great day of racing and fun, we left Carthage and headed home around 5:00pm. We received a phone call shortly after of horrifying news. Joplin, Missouri, only miles from Carthage, had been hit with a massive tornado. As the sadness and shock set in, I really began to realize how lucky we had been. I have several friends in the r/c and motocross community that live and race weekly in and around Joplin, and was so thankful to hear that they were ok. My prayers go out to the entire community and it's victims." -Mike Garrison -- LRC Staff
The death toll in Joplin, MO has reached over 90 people at this time, and ongoing search and rescue efforts continue. From everyone here at LiveRC, our thoughts and prayers go out to communities, families, and victims of the entire midwest faced with these storms.
