CML's 1/10th superstar Phil Sleigh secured the 2011 BRCA Micro National 1/16th Championship title last weekend in an exciting final at round 4 of the national series in Leominster, Hereford.
Having taking TQ in the 1/16th 4WD class Phil knew that he needed to take the win to secure the championship at the same venue where he took Carisma to their 1st ever victory at the 2010 UKMicroX event.
A crash on the first lap left Phil with the monumental task of battling his way through the field from the back against some of the best 1/16th racers in the country and with Carisma Factory Team driver Craig Harris holding a commanding lead over the rest of the field it looked like Phil would have to settle with trying to secure the title at the next round in February.
Phil managed to battle his way through the field back into 2nd place with Craig holding a steady lead and fellow CML 1/10th superstar Tony Bishop only 3 seconds behind in 3rd place, however a servo failure 3 laps from the end for Craig gave Phil the victory moving Tony into 2nd and Losi driver Mark Stiles the final stop on the podium after starting 9th on the grid.
Phil has been running a development version of the new Carisma GT14B Pro 4WD buggy since the start of the series and has not finished lower than 2nd place all season, which is testament to the consistency and competitiveness of the new chassis!
In the B final CML's Dan Harding and Morgan Rham drove superbly with Dan taking 2nd place and Morgan taking a strong 4th to round up an excellent day for the CML Carisma team!
