PROTOform Race Report:

The PROTOform SRS-N continues to assert itself as the dominant race body in 200mm Nitro touring car, as the body was used by all three podium finishers at this past weekend’s European Championships in Cassino, Italy.

Austrian racer Manuel Huber captured the title, followed by Italian driver Mario Spiniello and PROTOform team driver Jilles Groskamp. Fresh off his Electric Touring Car World Title, Groskamp was the class of the field, running away with the final before a rear belt issue dropped him all the way back to last, many laps down. The Dutch ace drove the wheels off his SRS-N to unlap himself three times and rally all the way up to third place.

PROTOform bodies were raced by 7 of the 10 final round competitors at the famous Italian track where drivers were reportedly hitting 118 km/h (73mph) down the frontstretch. Huber’s win with an SRS-N gives the race body another strong endorsement as we near the 2012 IFMAR IC Track World Championships later this year in Thailand. Reigning 1/8th World & Euro Champion Robert Pietsch also won the Pre-Worlds race in Bangkok with an SRS-N back in January.
