After nearly a week of wheel to wheel action at the 2011 Silver State Nitro Challenge it all came down to Sunday's main events to crown the 2011 Silver State Nitro Challenge Champions!

After qualifying was all said and done, it was Hot Bodies Ty Tessman who would take the overall TQ in Pro Truck, and Kyosho's Jared Tebo taking TQ in Pro Buggy.

Despite the stereotypical sunny and hot Vegas weather, the race was hit hard with chilling temps, rain, and even hail! After several delays in the program, The Dirt crew had the track back in shape and ready to race. After all the laps of qualifying had been laid down, the resulting track surface was described as "Driving on the moon," by announcer Jimmy Babcock.

Here is how it went down:

PRO TRUGGY

Ty Tessman has been a charging force in the truck class lately, as he snatched a win in the class at the ROAR Nationals warm-up two weeks ago at Thunder Alley. After a big TQ at this year's Silver State, Tessman brought the heat to the 1/8 Truck A-Main!

Tebo (buggy class TQ), would start 6th, but quickly make his way to the front with Tessman. Destruction and disaster would strike four of the a-main drivers throughout the 45 minute main. Castellano, Truhe, Cavalieri, and Lutz, would all see their chance for the win ended with a DNF. As the finish tone sounded, Ty Tessman, Jared Tebo, and Cody King rounded out the top 3!

Team Kyosho's Jared Tebo would take a strong TQ after qualifying, and would appear as though he would be the man to beat.

As the main got under way, we had no idea what to expect, as Ryan Maifield quickly took over the top spot ahead of Tebo. Maifield would lead for some time as Tebo was having troubles and continued dropping back allowing teammate and current World Champion Cody King and Team Durango's Ryan Lutz by. At this point, Tebo ran in fourth and was trailed by AE's Ryan Cavalieri in fifth.

Back at the front of the pack it was an all out brawl for the lead. Kyosho's Cody King would prove that his World Championship win wasn't just luck as he charged to the front ahead of Ryan Maifield and Ryan Lutz. King and Maifield would stretch out their lead to as much as 10 seconds on Ryan Lutz, who was sitting in third.

On lap 49, Cavalieri took away the fourth place spot from Tebo, but was quickly put back into fifth as Tebo charged back by. King and Maifield battled back and forth and would make several mistakes in the process, swapping the lead back and forth.

Pro Truck winner, Ty Tessman, would suffer a flame out with only 5 minutes to go. With less than 3 minutes to go, Cody King crashed and lost the lead to Ryan Maifield, but Maifield crashed as well handing the lead back to King almost instantly. After tumbling on the big front triple, King would once again pass the lead over to Maifield. Team Associated's Ryan Maifield would set the cruise control and take the 2011 Silver State Nitro Challenge Pro Buggy Win!
