Our friends at NeoBuggy un-covered some interesting news regarding the French superstar, Reno Savoya. It appears that due to circumstances, he will be returning to France after his nearly year long stay in America. Check out the full story below courtesy of the NeoBuggy crew.
Savoya to return to France
US move over after 8 months, 3x European Champion still to race in the US
With this morning's news of Jim Hottinger's Fusion Motorsports announced as the new RB Products distributor in the USA, we contacted Reno Savoya for his view; having moved to the USA with girlfriend Julie in October last year to work for & represent 'RB USA'. In a brief question and answer session Reno revealed that due to working visa problems, Julie and him will be returning to their native France and as a result RB's future in the US market required a new direction; a new distributor to be appointed.
Reno went on to explain that whilst he will be primarily based in France he will still be racing regularly in the US - a similar arrangement to what he had before with the French nationals, travelling to Europe to attend, but now in reverse. We also managed to quiz him briefly on his future with Durango, hopes etc before he had to dash off to continue packing.
NeoBuggy: Reno, with the news that Fusion is taking over distribution what will happen to RB USA now?
Reno Savoya: RB USA will have another activity, independently from RB Products, dealing more with leasure products
NB: Will you yourself still have an active role with in "insuring technical support both for drivers & customers on behalf of RB in the US market ?
RS: No, as we were having issue getting our working visas, that's the main reason of choosing another distributor for our products. I will have a role at the factory, but the future will tell us more. We are moving out of the country tomorrow...
NB:What about your girlfriend Julie will she be staying on at the former RB USA dealing with the leisure products ?
RS: Same as me, Julie will head back to France, with other challenges and opportunities in mind. She took the most of the experience, and looking forward to our new life in France!
NB: One title that seems to have slipped from your grasp is the French championship, looking ahead to the Euros how confident are you ?
RS: The French National wasn't the objective of the last 2 seasons, having won 3 already and living too far away... 4 Euros in a row is more what I'm expecting! Everytime I go on the track I'm more confident in my car, my set-up and my driving! At the last round of French Nats, I won my semi and could fight for the win with the best drivers in Europe, so you can count on me at the euros!
NB: We've seen many changes and mods to the Durango car since the start of the year, how is it driving now compared to before ? Is it a car capable of winning the big championship races ?
RS: TQ lol Team Durango has done a fantastic job to improve our car with the upgrades we really needed. The team is working really hard to move forward, and the company is always supporting as understanding. We already had great results since the beginning of the season, and we are proud of it! Of course the car is ready to win big races! We are just waiting for the final check in order to make it available to our customers, who will enjoy the car as much as we do.
NB: Cheeky one, have you driven the RB One car on a track yet ?
RS: RB products engines and cars are following a different strategy. Even if I work as a part of RB R&D Team, I didn't try the car.
