LRP's ETS Round 3 and 4 Recap!
Ronald Völker seems to be unstoppable on his way to the title. 3 victories in 4 races are outstanding. Only his teammate Juho Levänen – victorious in Legionowo (PL) - has realistic chances to win the series as well.
There are still two races left, but LRP team driver Ronald Völker is already now close to the overall title. His performance in the 4 past events of the European TouringCar Series 2010/2011 were more than convincing. The double European Champion and LRP TCM 2011 winner clearly dominates his competitors. Even the reigning ETS Champion and World Champion Marc Rheinard had no chance till now.
The power of the LRP SXX TC spec Version 2 brushless speedo combined with the LRP Vector X12 Octa-Wind motor proved to be irresistible. Ronald sealed TQ and won the A-main already after the second run in Kastellaun (D), Hrotovice (CZ) and St. Pölten (A). A unique success story in the history of the ETS. It is no wonder that Ronald’s toughest competitor comes from the LRP team: Juho Levänen took the last chance and won the recent race in Legionowo (PL).
Round 4 in Legionowo / Poland – Modified Class
Juho Levänen – first ever European TouringCar Series Champion – returned to victory after 18 races of not winning. The Finnish triple European Champion was the first racer that could break the predominance of the German top driver Ronald Völker at this ETS edition. With two A-finals won, Juho secured the victory just in front of his teammate. Ronald reached the second position with one first and one second place. Young driver Elliot Harper from the United Kingdom finished the race on the third position. His first podium finish at the ETS.
The event in Poland had exactly started like the ones before. Ronald set the pace and drove in his own league. Following the script of the three previous races, Ronald secured TQ with ease. But in Legionowo, the event went another way: Juho Levänen bat Ronald in A-main 1. Ronald was able to strike back and took the win in A-main 2. Consequently, the last run had to bring the decision.
Ronald was forced to change the car before the last A-main. This momentum of bad luck proved to be decisive. With a completely new car, Ronald had no chance to beat Juho at this weekend. The Finnish top driver showed an impressive performance during the whole event and was able to secure a well deserved victory. He managed to get the maximum power out of the LRP SXX TC spec Version 2 brushless speed control and LRP Vector X12 Octa-Wind motor. Despite the strong competition, Juho Levänen was the fastest racer on the track.
Congratulations, Juho!
Round 3 in St. Pölten / Austria – Modified Class
For the first time, a race was held in St. Pölten and also for the first time a European TouringCar Series indoor race took place on an asphalt track. The Austrian race was some kind of revolutionary. The competitors, including reigning ETS Champion Marc Rheinard, aimed to brake Ronald Völker’s dominance shown at the two opening events.
But the new location and the asphalt track didn’t distract Ronald. He clearly dominated also round 3 of the ETS 2010/11. In his hands, the LRP brushless combo proved to be the benchmark system in the Modified Class of this race. After superiorly securing the TQ spot, Ronald won also the A-main rounds 1 + 2 in style. His victory in St. Pölten was the third win in three races – very impressing and unique in ETS history.
Leading also in the third A-main, Ronald was hit by a technical problem in the last minute. His bad luck was second placed Andy Moore’s luck: he took the lead from Ronald. The former World Champion from the United Kingdom won the final A-main, despite the strong pressure from Marc Rheinard during the last lap. With his victory, he secured the second spot on the podium. Congratulations!
Round 4 in Poland was the last indoor race of this season’s European TouringCar Series. The fifth round will take place from June, 10 – 12 at the beautiful outdoor track in Apeldoorn / Netherlands. Much time left for the drivers to prepare. They’ll try their best to keep the struggle for the overall title open.
Like last year, the final event of the tour will be held from July, 8 – 10 in Kastellaun / Germany.
