The R/C industry has grown immensely over the past 10-15 years. It started out 1/8 scale nitro onroad, 1/12 scale electric, 1/10 scale electric offroad, then came the 1/8 nitro buggy, followed by the truggy, followed by the short course, and so on...
As the years have passed we have seen a major increase AND decrease in a lot of the racing classes on a local and national level. For instance, 1/10 nitro stadium truck or nitro monster truck racing. While those classes seem to be slowly "dying out", more and more manufacturer's are developing new vehicles that are a class of their own.
Here are just a FEW examples:
- Team Losi - TEN-T truggy (nitro 1/10 scale 4wd truggy)
- Venom RC - VMX450 (electric 1/4 scale competition dirt bike)
- Traxxas - Rally (electric 1/16 scale brushless rally car)
- Thunder Tiger - KT8 (electric 1/8 scale go-kart)
and the list goes on...
We have also seen over the years a "rebirth" of many classes that were thought to be going extinct. Example being in the late 90's the pan car classes seemed to be dying out, however it has re-emerged as the the platform for the now popular World GT class. In the past 10 years we have seen the decline in 1/10 offroad gas and electric truck, however, just when it seems the class is on its last leg, TLR releases the new TLR 22T and revives much of it on a local and national racing level.
We want to know your opinion on what is the next up and coming class in racing? Which companies do think are on the leading edge of r/c racing's future?
For those classes that have been put on the "endangered species" list, what can we do to revive them? Why do you think they are dying out in the first place?
