The current WRC championship leader Mikko Hirvonen has confirmed to be the patron of the IFMAR Electric Buggy Worlds 2011. The race organizer Motorsport club of Vaasa values highly his support. As a patron Hirvonen gives support for voluntary work and specially for youth work, which is close to his heart.

"It's an honour for me to be a part of the World championship project. RC cars are an entertaining and a safe hobby for youngsters. This hobby develops the skills of coordination and observation, which are advantages also in many others things in life," says Hirvonen.

Motorsport club of Vaasa and Mikko Hirvonen have agreed that Hirvonen would be visiting the Electric Buggy Worlds, if his own preparation for the Neste Oil Rally Finland gives the opportunity for the visit.

The project manager of Worlds 2011 Jussi Luopajärvi is most happy about Hirvonen's commitment for being the patron. Hirvonen is a prime example of a responsible role model in the world of motorsport for the young people.

"Mikko Hirvonen's confirmation to be the patron of the event is an important acknowledgement for our sport. For us organizers this is, of course, an excellent motivator to do our job even better towards our goal to organize the greatest RC car event of all time", tells Luopajärvi.
