Report by Zak Finlay

The XRAY UK team were in attendance at the final round of the BRCA UK Nationals this past weekend. The race was held at the very popular Halifax circuit in the north of England.

Going into the weekend, the main focus was on the Modified class, where the overall championship was still undecided. Team XRAY’s Kyle Branson was in a commanding position for the overall title, but needed another solid result to confirm the victory.

In qualifying, Kyle was able to take comfortable TQ runs in the first two rounds to ensure he would line up on the pole position for the main showdown in the A-Main.

Kyle would be joined in the A-Main by Harley Eldridge, Peter Eagles and Marcus Askell also all running XRAY X4.

In the first leg of the Modified A-Main, Kyle struggled off the start and unfortunately had to settle for 3rdplace. Harley Eldridge would take the fight to Zak Smith in this final leg and was close to win, finishing in 2nd, just 0.07s behind after some thrilling racing.

Fortunately for Kyle, the issues of the first A-Main didn’t repeat in the final two legs, and he was able to take the win in both of those races to give him the overall race victory.

This race victory was enough to seal the overall national title for the modified class!

Harley Eldridge was able to continue her strong performance to take 3rd overall for the race.

Having already guaranteed the overall 13.5 stock title, Zak was aiming to make the perfect score of winning all six national races and by lining up on pole for the A-Main he was giving himself the best chance to achieve that.

Zak was joined in the 13.5 stock A-final by four other XRAY X4’s which meant that 50% of the A-Main were using XRAY.

Zak was able to win the first two final legs to take the overall victory, and was joined on the podium by Ricky Copsey who finished 3rd overall with his XRAY.
