Report by Max Gotzl

The first round of 1/8 Off-road Czech Nationals took a place last weekend in Kolin. The weather worked out perfect and it was sunny the whole day, providing an enjoyable day at the track for all.

I was running both classes – Nitro and Eco. Ebuggy qualifying didn’t go as planned, as there were some errors from my side and that allowed Martin Bayer to take the TQ, I lined up 2nd and Dominik Vlasek 3rd for the A main grid. Nitro qualifying went perfect, although I was still tuning in my FX engine as it was my first nitro race after winter. Jiri Benes took 2nd and Jan Horacek 3rd.

A1 of Ebuggy went to Martin as I had an unlucky start of the main, but I managed to win A2 after Martin’s mistake to take the fight into A3. I was close behind Martin before I made a mistake which cost me a lot and allowed him to have a comfortable lead to take the A3 and the overall victory as well. I finished 2nd overall and Dominik held on to 3rd.

Ebuggy results:

  1. Martin Bayer - XRAY XB8E
  2. Max Gotzl - XRAY XB8E
  3. Dominik Vlasek

Nitro main final was 45 minutes long, my XB8 was on rails and I managed to take the win with a big gap over 2nd Jiri Benes and 3rd Vladimir Pour. Full XRAY podium!

Nitro results:

  1. Max Gotzl - XRAY XB8/FX
  2. Jiri Benes - XRAY XB8
  3. Vladimir Pour - XRAY XB8

The challenging track conditions made for an interesting race for everyone. All in all it was a great comeback to 1/8 with Martin before the 1/8E Euros in Germany coming up this week!
