OCR Raceway announces they are closing the doors

Sad news has reached the inbox of LiveRC today as we have learned that OCR Raceway in Australia is in fact closing its doors. Over the past several years we have had the pleasure of working with OCR owner, Tony Knauth, through daily news, race reports, broadcasts, and more.

We have received the following letter from Tony announcing the official closing of OCR Raceway:

Hey Everybody,

Every moment in time is inevitable!!!

I'll start this off by saying this was one of the toughest decisions I've had to make, but whilst it was tough it was necessary as it is time for me to move on and focus on other things in life. So further to that I have to announce to you that the 2013 NT Offroad Championships held this weekend was the very last event to be held at OCR Raceway.

What started 13 years ago as a vision and a passion for racing turned into what I believe was one of the best venues in the country, hosting Australias richest prize money events and fortnightly Pro racing on a level not seen before. Its certainly been a long hard road with some huge highs and lows, but I am very very proud of what I have achieved and the fact I was able to not only able build up the venue, run the events single handedly and compete at the top of my game for so long still makes me wonder. I've made some fantastic friends over the years some of which I'm sure will be lifelong friendships and whilst I'm going to miss all the excitement, the smiles, the sounds and smells in my backyard, this is somewhat of a relief for it to be over.

So in closing I firstly need to say a big thank you to my lovely wife Rhonda, I know she has certainly missed out on some things due to my passion for this and I cant thank her enough for standing by me always, and being there through the good and bad.

And of course all the sponsors and supporters of which there were many, I'm very proud that you all believed in me and wanted to be part of my passion and associate yourself with me.

And last but certainly not least the drivers, of which there have been hundreds over the years, some of you with me from the start, it was you guys and girls that gave me the competition and the reasons to keep on pushing myself all these years, without you all this could not have been possible, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
