Flashback: 2013
Dakotah Phend's first 2WD ROAR National Championship

Last weekend, TLR's Dakotah Phend dominated the 2WD class on his way to successfully "D-Phending" his national title. He set the fastest time in three of the four rounds (including the only 20-lap run in the class), fought back to win A1 with a dramatic last-lap pass over the triple, and then won the second main event outright to seal the deal.

In 2013, the win didn't come quite so easily. On a very large, and very fast, Silver Dollar R/C Raceway track layout, Phend started third behind then-teammates Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield. In both of the first two main events, disaster struck for Ryan and Ryan over the same jump at nearly the same time, opening the door for Phend to drive on by.
