Flashback: 2010
Team Associated begins reign of terror over 1/12-scale class

As you read this, the 28th annual CRCRC Midwest Winter Electric Off-Road Championships are going down in the state of Ohio - and Facebook is on fire with photos from drivers at the race talking about how cold the weather is. One of the oldest existing racing events in the U.S., the “MidWinters” are run by the non-profit Columbus RC Racing Club, which operates an indoor off-road race track from September through May at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard, Ohio. Their annual big race was held at their own facility until 2011, when the CRCRC Midwest Winter Championships for both electric and nitro were moved to the larger Ohio R/C Factory in Jeffersonville, and the extra space was certainly welcome - in 2010, the final year at the original location, as 440 entries attended just the electric portion.
The 2010 MidWinters was the end of an era for CRCRC (don’t worry, the race is alive and well at the new location - there are 475 entries at this year’s race), but it came only a year after Jared Tebo had switched from long-time sponsor Team Associated to become the frontman of Kyosho’s racing efforts in America. Tebo dominated that weekend, winning all three of the classes he entered from the TQ position, and only the 4WD class went to A3 before the title was decided. The 2WD Short Course class, which was still growing into a legitimate racing division, was won by Jesse Robbers driving an HPI Racing Blitz.
