The 1987 Caprice Classic was considered a very popular car during its time, impressively selling well over 100,000 units. Years later, because of its availability, the 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Classic became an obvious choice in the lowrider scene. Its classic, boxy design, with a relatively large body and spacious frame, made it an ideal candidate for custom work.

The Caprice Classic, especially from the late '80s, is often chosen for its solid frame, which provides a strong foundation for hydraulic or airbag systems, offering a sturdy backbone for the rigorous effects of hopping. Its large size acts as a canvas for impressive paint jobs, custom interiors, and the installation of unique rims—all key elements of lowrider style & culture. With such a strong presence in the post-'80s lowrider community, the Caprice Classic was destined to be on Redcat’s design list of 1:10 scale hopping lowriders.

Redcat have reproduced the 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Classic, in 1:10 scale, with a solid backbone of their own: the proven LRH285 hopping lowrider chassis. The innovative LRH285 hopping lowrider chassis is the driving force behind the success of Redcat hopping lowriders. This incredible chassis, coupled with a highly detailed body and the LR6X specialized hopping lowrider radio system, is what truly makes Redcat lowriders so special.

The intricate details of the Caprice Classic body evoke nostalgic memories of simpler times—carefree moments when inspiration flowed freely and goals were straightforward: build the best lowrider using components that were easily accessible. It was a creative outlet fueled by a competitive spirit, where passion and craftsmanship met on the streets. The Caprice Classic isn’t just a specialized RC vehicle; it’s an experience in itself. For an even more in-depth driving experience, Redcat offers an optional LED light kit, adding an extra layer of realism and style that brings the lowrider to life after dark.

The Caprice Classic, 1:10 scale hopping lowrider, features a meticulously detailed interior, complete with sculpted seats, inner door panels, a beautifully crafted dashboard, a detailed gauge cluster, and a realistic steering wheel. Magnetic body mounts provide a simple and efficient way to remove and replace the body, ensuring ease of maintenance and enhanced realism.

Redcat’s commitment to authenticity is evident throughout the chassis, featuring scale 13" radial reverse lace wheels with 2-blade knockoffs, genuine Redcat white-wall tires with an authentic stretch, and a meticulously detailed undercarriage. The chrome exhaust, faux transmission, telescoping rear drive shaft, and blacked-out threaded metal links add additional realism that can be appreciated while hopping or being displayed on a mirror. A functional solid rear axle, complete with a removable differential cover, rounds out the design, elevating the overall authenticity and attention to detail.

The Caprice Classic is expertly engineered for cruising in style and performing impressive lowrider tricks, thanks to its specialized suspension system. With advanced servos and precise weight distribution, it authentically mimics the driving dynamics and aesthetics of a full-sized hopping lowrider. At the front of the vehicle, you'll find independent front suspension, an adjustable front hopping bellcrank, and a high-speed, custom-made REEFS V2 hopping servo. The rear suspension utilizes a solid rear axle that is actuated by two Hexfly Torque Spec 35KG rear axle lifting servos, and for steering, a Hexfly 4KG metal gear servo takes care of steering this classic.

The Caprice Classic is equipped with the LR6X six-channel 2.4GHz radio system, specially designed with lowrider-style switches for an authentic driving experience. Outfitted specifically for use with RC lowriders, this radio's buttons, levers, and switches allow the driver to perform realistic hopping and lowrider tricks, mirroring the controls of a full-sized hydraulically operated lowrider.
