Press Release From Team Xray:
www.teamxray.com
The standard steering lock limiting shim on the X4 cars is of 7.5mm OD, which gives approx 26 degrees of max. lock per side (with 1 degree of toe-out per side).
This set of shims allows for fine tuning of the max. steering lock:
7.0mm = 27 degrees
7.5mm = 26 degrees
8.0mm = 25 degrees
8.5mm = 24 degrees
9.0mm = 23 degrees
No shim = up to 31 degrees (generally NOT recommended)
More steering lock is recommended for modified racing compared to spec classes. Ideally, one should use as little steering lock as necessary to make the corners, since this will maintain better cornering speeds, reduce front tire overheating, and most importantly, makes the car easier to drive and to control.
Factory team typically uses 26-27 degrees for modified racing, but will use as little as 24 degrees for spec class racing at times.
5 different outside diameter shims (3x7 / 3x7.5 / 3x8 / 3x8.5 / 3x9) for precise steering lock adjustment . Each shim is 2mm thick. Machined from high-grade aluminum material. Black anodized.
