We’ve known that TLR had been working on updating the 8IGHT 3.0 since at least late last season, as team drivers at large events asking media not to photograph their cars in the pit area. It appears that a new version of the buggy is not only a reality, but very close to production - even the box art is complete.

RCTech user “PaulNZ,” who has posted just 18 times since joining the forum over a year ago, uploaded these photos to the popular hobbyist hangout yesterday evening. He said team drivers were not secretive about using the car at the New Zealand Nationals this week, and even shared an intended release date of “before Christmas.”

PaulNZ said that several changes over the previous version were easy to see, namely new front and rear arms, protective driveshaft boots, new shock towers, and a throttle linkage brace that fastens to the center diff mount - which has been seen on TLR team drivers’ cars for a while now. He also mentioned mounting holes in the chassis to attach ballast weights and a more off-center engine position, leading to a lesser angle for the front-center driveshaft, which confirms rumors that the TLR team has been testing a new chassis (if, for nothing else, those two small changes.

While a couple of other news sites have alluded to "secret tip-offs," all of the information can be found on this RCTech thread, starting at post #112:

As of the posting of this article, Team Losi Racing has not confirmed details of the car, but we expect that with this news being published an announcement won’t be far off.
