Palsson and Bayer Win Mibosport R5 With Gotzl Winning Championships

Race Report by Max Gotzl 

The 5th and final round of Mibosport cup 2019/20 was held last weekend as always in Sport V Hotel Hrotovice. This time the event saw again more than 200 entries, so there was enough time between runs and good competition as well.

As usually the race started with practices on Friday, it was Jorn Neumann in 2wd and me in 4wd the top seeds for Saturday qualifying.

Jorn took the TQ in Q1 in front of Jessica Palsson in 2nd and Hupo Honigl in 3rd. Q2 went to Martin Bayer who had big gap in front of 2nd Jessica and again Hupo 3rd, I finally managed to put an ok run and took 4th. In Q3 it was Jessica on top, which meant the overall TQ for her, Hupo took 2nd and Jorn 3rd, which meant Jorn was overall 2nd and Martin Bayer took overal 3rd.

I was leading Q1 of 4wd the whole time, but unfortunately made a big mistake in the last lap which meant the TQ went to Martin, I took 2nd place and Bartek Zambrzycki 3rd. Q2 went easily to Martin, again in front of me in 2nd and this time Hupo in 3rd. Some drivers put their new set of tires for the Q3, Bartek was one of them and he took the TQ in Q3 which meant he would start 2nd behind Martin and I took overall 3rd place.

After close fights with Bartek, Martin Bayer was able to take the win in A1 and A2 to secure the overall victory in 4wd! Then it was Hupo, Jorn and Jessica who took the 3rd place in A1,2,3. But in the overall ranking Jessica came with the least points to take the last step on the podium. I was able to grab the P5 in the end after some really messed up finals…

Jessica was able to transfer her TQ into a win in the A1 of 2wd, Martin and Jorn were fighting for 2nd but after they had a contact it was Adam Izsay who took 2nd and Hupo took 3rd. I was in a close fight in the top 5, but a unlucky mistake put me down to 5th. A2 was a totally different story, many drivers crashed, also into each other, so this time it was Jorn who took the win. I was able to come through all the traffic and took the 2nd place! In A3 it was again Jessica on the top, so she took the overall Win. Martin Bayer put a good run and finished 2nd, with me finishing in 3rd. That meant that I finished overall 2nd and Hupo took the 3rd spot.

As this was the last race of the season, there was the overall season ceremony. After a really good success in the previous races, as well as this one, I became double Mibosport cup 2019/20 champion in 2wd and 4wd classes! It was really good season for me, as well as for Hupo, who finished on the 2nd place, making it Xray 1-2 in both classes.
