ROAR Region 9 Electric Onroad Championship

This past weekend, ROAR hosted the Region 9 Onroad Electric Championship at N-Control RC Racing Circuit in Dale, Texas. The championship featured 50 entries across 8 different electric onroad classes. Saturday featured a club race for participants to get a head start on finding the proper setup and rhythm for the track, and Sunday featured the main event with 3 rounds of rocket qualifying and triple A-mains for the most popular classes. The racing was fast and tight all weekend, with the track providing medium to high traction. However, with the sun fading, temperatures dropping, and racing finishing up underneath the outdoor lighting, finding traction in the final mains became a premium. Those who were able to overcome the changing conditions would go on to become the Region 9 champions.

In Modified Touring, Chris Adams secured the TQ position, but would have to fight off a hard charging Brandon McNally during each of the three A-mains in order to secure the overall championship. The battle for third place saw many drivers with a chance to make the podium, but ultimately Johnee Fenimore would round out the top 3.

  2. Brandon McNally - Serpent
  3. Johnee Fenimore - Awesomatix

The 17.5 Stock Touring class was the biggest class of the event with 18 racers, and saw some of the tightest racing of the weekend. Taking TQ honors was Ron Atomic. However, the cooler evening temperatures would cause Atomic to have traction difficulties in the mains, which opened the door for the other races. Chris Kemper and Michael "Toastie" Toth would each secure a 1st place finish in the first two A-mains, with the final main deciding the overall champion. Chris Kemper would go on to finish 1st in the final A-main to lock up the overall victory.

In USGT, Billy Land secured the overall TQ position and set the single fastest lap of the class. Little would change at the top of the leaderboard with Land taking 1st in the first two A-mains to lock up the overall region championship. The battle for second was hard fought and came down to the final race, which saw Jacob Aguirre just beating out Robert Ferrell to finalize the podium lineup.
