Tessmann and Thompson Win The Canadian Dirt Classic

Race Report by Ty Tessmann:

This past weekend I got to race in Calgary, AB which is only 3 hours from home at the Trukz RC track for the Dirt Classic. With temperature outside reaching -23 celsius, they were able to keep the temperature inside the building to a balmy 15 degrees celsius. This was nice relaxed race for me, and got to race with some guys and girls that I haven't raced with in a while. The grip on the track was very low, because of the low temps outside, the ground was very cold which at times caused there to be small sections that actually had ice on the track, club members went out on the track with blow torches to keep the track in good shape, but tire prep was very important. My XB2D felt great all day.

They had 2 classes, 2wd and 4wd buggy, I only raced the 2wd class as I wanted to make sure I was available to help anyone that needed help. There were four 6 minute qualifiers and single 8 minute mains. I tq'd the 2wd class and then went on to win the main. It was a really fun race and it was nice to be able to race with my Dad, he got to relax a bit and have some fun.

I want to say thanks to the crew at Trukz for inviting us to this race, they did a great job putting on the race. They made sure the racers had everything they needed including pizza and soda for lunch, which was great. Congratulations to Kevin Thompson for winning the 4wd class.
