Next new addition to Serpent Team Europe: Former European champion Christian Wurst will be relying on the recently launched Serpent 990 EVO in the new season. He will be competing in national races as well as races of the ENS (Euro Nitro Series) with this chassis for the top league in RC motorsport, the 1/8 scale nitro on-road class, which has been consistently further developed by Serpent legend Michael Salven.

"For me, competing with Serpent again is a promising return to my roots because I contested my first races with a Serpent Super Pro in 1983," recalls the German. The Serpent Super Pro was the top version of the Mk. III series, developed by Ron Ton, co-founder of Serpent alongside Pieter Bervoets. The Mk. III chassis marked the beginning of the traditional Dutch brand's worldwide success story in 1981.

Christian Wurst took delivery of his new Serpent 990 EVO already on January 2nd. "The chassis makes an excellent impression. It contains some really good solutions, some points have been rethought, and the assembly also works perfectly. All of this increases my anticipation for the first laps," says Christian, whose home track is the MCK Dormagen circuit just half an hour's drive from home in the north of Cologne.

"I'm looking forward to the new chassis, but also very much to the Serpent team with young Thilo Baldes, Marco Weigerding and Oliver Mack. There are also some new Serpent drivers joining us in Western Germany, including André Boettcher and Christian Kimmling. Teamwork is the be-all and end-all in order to make optimum use of a chassis' potential," says Christian Wurst who continues to rely on engines from REDS RACING.

Since his youthful beginning, the now 54-year-old, whose greatest success was winning the European Championship (B) in Luxembourg in 2002, has remained to be focussed to RC nitro racing. His fascination for the demanding technology, the intensive set-up work and mastering the enormous speed of these 1/8 nitro racers remains unbroken to this day.

"With Christian Wurst, we have another excellent driver in our Serpent Team Europe who has a wealth of experience and a strong technical understanding, not to mention his unbridled ambition. This is a perfect addition to support talents such as twelve-year-old Thilo Baldes," underlined Jirka Hassler, Managing Director of Serpent Europe importer 2-speed (Germany).
